There have been reports of black tigers in India which are also called melanistic tigers. The tiger has a black body with tawny, yellow, or white stripes. There have also been reports of completely black tigers without stripes.

October 1992 - The skin of a black tiger was recovered from smugglers at Tis Hazari and measured eight and a half feet. It was put on display at the National Museum of Natural History in New Delhi, India.
